After graduating in 1975 from the Handelshøjskolen (Commercial School of Business Language) in Aarhus with the languages German, English and Spanish I worked during the following 24 years as a language teacher at Viborg Handelsgymnasium (Commercial School). By accident I was invited to evaluate my abilities as a language translator through a test translation for the translation agency Euroscript in Germany. The test obviously turned out to be quite good, and after some time of deliberation I accepted the offer from the firm to work for them. Since then, approx. 11 years, I have worked as a translator, both permanently employed with different firms, in the last 6 years, however, as a freelancer.
In a broad sense I have translated almost everything which has with rolling machinery to do: tractors, cars, trains, combiners. I therefore feel quite confident in connection with the translation of all technical issues: industrial centrifuges, windmills, dairy machinery etc. All though I am not authorizes as a juridical translator I have never received complaints regarding my translation of various strictly juridical texts and contracts and my knowledge in the framework of medical, commercial and financial language is quite extensive as well.
But I have also translated Father Cristmas' letter to little Peter - and tens of thousands other small children - and I have had the pleasure of being the link between two persons who discussed the well-being of their dogs to stay in contact.
