Mendoza Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced professional freelance translator to be part of our team.
Responsibilities:
The Freelance Translator is responsible for translation of documents from English to Nepali.
The Translator must be highly organized, detail oriented, committed, deadline-driven and familiar with translation platforms. This person must be able to execute the following duties:
• Ability to translate English documents into Nepali. Types of documents primarily will include member communications (letters and forms relative to the healthcare industry). Experience with translation of marketing materials also a plus (handbooks, flyers, brochures, etc.).
• Read given documents and research industry-specific terminology as needed.
• Excellent translation, writing and communication skills.
• Cross-reference specialized glossaries if provided to you.
• Ensure translated content conveys original meaning and tone.
• Edit content with an eye toward maintaining its original format (e.g. font and structure).
• Ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Provide quality assurance of translated documents.
• Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy.
• Resolve issues that are associated with translation, localization and culture.
• Implement feedback and changes when needed.
• Perform final quality check on documents to ensure adherence to quality standards (proofreading, final eye…).
Skills and Qualifications Required:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of five years of professional or academic experience in English to Nepali translation
• Fluent in Nepali and English
• Experience or familiarity with healthcare terminology a plus
• Must possess a strong attention to detail
• Commitment to a high level of service
• Ability to work with Trados Studio or other compatible translation platforms
• Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and punctuation errors
• BS in Translation a plus
• Additional certification in Linguistics is a plus
Availability: Monday – Friday, some weekends.
Pay: Based on agreed upon costs per new word and repeat words.
