Special requirements to the applicants: Trados 2007 or Studio 2011
Sample text (50 to 200 words): The system operates as following:
• Device 1 (Mobile Beacon, called Beame) is fitted to vehicles subscribing to the low cost SVR service. This device is a simple and cheap apparatus that is very easy to install and conceal in the vehicle (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Target Vehicle’) and is capable of communicating its own unique identification (‘Unique ID’) via a short-range radio frequency link ‘A’ to Devices 2 and/or Device 3.
• Device 2 (Mobile Base Station) is fitted to existing SVR Vehicle Tracking Units, either at the time of manufacturing of such units or at a later date once the Vehicle Tracking Units are already deployed in the field into customer vehicles. By fitting Device 2 a SVR Vehicle Tracking Unit, the latter now serves the purpose of a Mobile Host Unit that is capable of transmitting its own position plus the Unique ID if the Target Vehicle to the Control Room (Item 2) via its existing communication link marked ‘B’.
• The Control Room software can now assign an approximate geographical position for the Target Vehicle to match that of the Mobile Host Unit. If more than one Mobile Host Unit reports its proximity to the Target Vehicle, this approximate position can be further resolved into a more accurate position by using triangulation and/or other deduced reckoning techniques.
• In the event that the Target Vehicle is reported as stolen, the Control Room can instruct the Recovery System (Item 3) to place the Mobile Beacon (Device 1), via wireless communication link ‘A’, in the Target Vehicle into special mode where the Mobile Beacon can alter its transmitted signal in a way that identifies it as a stolen vehicle. (‘Recovery Mode’) The link shown as ‘C’ could be a wireless link, a wired link or even a voice instruction to the recovery crew.
• Device 3 (Fixed Base Station) operates in a mode similar to the combination of the Mobile Base Station (Device 2) and the Mobile Host Unit (Item 1) with the exception that this device is not fitted to a moving vehicle. Instead the Fixed Base Stations are mounted in permanent or semi-permanent positions at strategic geographical locations to supplement the area coverage of the Mobile Base Station network. The communication link ‘E’ can be wireless via the GSM network or wired via the internet or fixed-line telephony network.
.
1.1.1 Beacon Product Overview (Device 1)
The Beacon interfaces with the Mobile Base Station via a 434MHz radio link. The Beacon is wireless battery operated product. It is therefore easy to install.
