Details of the project: Growing Translation and Interpreting Company is looking for a Bilingual (Spanish) Translation Project Manager The role will cover coordinating and overseeing all stages of translation projects which includes receipt of requests... of translation to client and invoicing instructions to Accounts Dept. You will have day-to-day communication with clients and interaction with other members of the division (translators, project managers, and editors) and overseeing all stages of project, taking request from clients, quoting of price and delivery time, and liaising with other members of departments ensuring project is delivered to expected standards and the quality of projects is met.
The role requires someone who has a customer service background within an office environment, excellent organizational and management skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, good IT skills with the ability to multi-task.
In this important role, you will have overall responsibility for supervising all phases of assigned projects, including:
• manage translation projects
• develop project strategies/plans/instructions
• identify, assign, schedule, supervise and train team members for projects (translators, publishers, and other individual resources)
• negotiating rates with freelance translators and/or agencies
• liaising with clients and producing project quotations for clients
• communicate with clients regarding project status, queries from translators, and other issues
• recruiting freelance translators / updating the translator database
• In-house quality control (figures and layout)
• obtaining, locating, or creating glossaries and reference documents and managing them
• performing basic in-house DTP tasks and text preparation
• In-house translation, proofreading, editing
Requirements:
• 2+ years of experience in project management
• 1st degree level in a language-based subject (a modern language, translation studies, etc) or equivalent similar qualification
• Good understanding of translation project lifecycle
• Fluency in English and Spanish (oral & written)
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong commitment to quality and eye to detail
• Motivated, self-starter, team player
• A mature person who can take initiative
• Good all-round IT skills:
§ MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat essential
§ Working knowledge of DTP software packages (Quark, In Design, Publisher, etc), Database and Mac systems desirable or ability to learn as needed
§ Knowledge of translation memory tools (Trados, SDL, etc) desirable.
