Un CV français est disponsible sur demande. With degree-level qualifications from both French and English universities, I translate from French to English and have been doing so professionally since October 2014. In particular, I have translated the subtitles of numerous documentaries for the major French TV channel, TV5 Monde. I have translated over 38,000 words. Prior to that, I did some translation as part of my degree (obtaining good marks of around 18/20) and the Suzanne James (Translator Training) course in French to English translation (my tutor commented that I ‘have lots of writing style and talent’). My written English is of an excellent standard, as is demonstrated by, for example, test results on my Elance profile (https://www.elance.com/s/hazel-lumb/). I also have A and A* grades in English A-level and GCSE and an A grade for English grammar as part of my TESOL English teaching certificate (‘A’ is the top grade). I previously taught English (for over a year in total) and have been working as a proofreader since June 2013, gaining much good feedback (e.g. see www.lumbeditorials-proofreading.co.uk/recent-feedback.html; also see endorsements on LinkedIn). I have a qualification in French Law following three years’ study of French Law. I also did French A-level (obtaining an A grade) and have continually improved my level of French by attending French-speaking groups (e.g. a French philosophy group), reading French books (e.g. by Daniel Penac and Sébastien Japrisot) and newspapers and listening to French podcasts (e.g. L’édito politique and Allô l’Europe). I have a 2.1 degree in Law with European Laws and two finance and business qualifications. My other specialist areas relate to my long-term hobbies of art and crafts. I also have a qualification in these areas.
