Background: I have many years of experience in communicating in English and Lithuanian. I grew up bilingual—Lithuanian is my mother tongue, and I use it to communicate with relatives. I speak English on a native level as well, as I have lived in the UK for most of my life and attended school here from the age of 6. Growing up, I kept my Lithuanian grammar skills sharp by attending Lithuanian language classes. I am aware that it is often desired for translations to have a more human touch—and this is what I‘m here for. Being bilingual, I can provide the most naturally flowing and well-structured translations with no compromise in spelling, punctuation or grammar in both languages. Professional experience: I have translated the full content of a new social media website, inLinx.com, from English to Lithuanian, which was approximately 18,700 words. I have contributed to two large Lithuanian to English translation projects through appen.com, which involved translating sentences extracted from online articles and took around 4 weeks each. To qualify for working with Appen, I had to pass a qualifying test. My translation was monitored regularly throughout the projects to guarantee the highest quality, and the clients were satisfied with my work. In the last project, I contributed over 80,000 words within 4 weeks. I have recently started subtitling YouTube videos for a Lithuanian educational television show called “Mokslo Sriuba” (“Science Soup”) in my free time. This is a non-profit show, aiming to foster a love of science in the youth. Other experience: I have been translating from English to Lithuanian and from Lithuanian to English for relatives and acquaintances for several years while living in the UK. I have translated documents and texts, filled in paperwork, interpreted conversations, spoken on people’s behalf and written letters for them countless times throughout the years.
